Privacy Policy
In short: the app collects nothing. Heartland Expedition has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no network connection of any kind. Nothing you do in the game ever leaves your device. This website is covered separately below.
The app: data we collect
None. The app does not ask for your name, e-mail address, location or any other personal information, and it does not request any system permissions.
Data stored on your device
The game saves your expedition progress — your explorer, discoveries, artifacts, money and settings such as your chosen language — inside the app's own storage area on your device. This information stays on your device, is not readable by us or by anyone else, and is removed when you delete the app.
If you have iCloud device backups enabled, this save data may be included in your own encrypted Apple backup. That backup is controlled entirely by you and Apple; we have no access to it.
Third parties
The app contains no third-party software development kits, no advertising networks, no analytics or crash-reporting services and no social media integrations. It is built only with Apple's own system frameworks.
If you obtained the app through the App Store, Apple may collect its own information about the download or purchase. That is governed by Apple's privacy policy, not by this one.
This website
The website is hosted on GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. Like any web server, it automatically records technical data when a page is requested — typically your IP address, the time of the request, the page requested, the referring page and your browser and operating system version. This is necessary in order to deliver the page to you and to keep the service secure and stable. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interests). We do not combine this data with anything else and we cannot use it to identify you personally.
The website sets no cookies, uses no analytics or tracking, and loads no fonts, scripts or images from other servers — everything it needs is delivered from the site itself. The only thing it stores on your device is your chosen display language, kept in your browser's local storage so the site remembers it on your next visit. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings.
Children
Because the app collects no data at all, it collects nothing from children either. There are no chat features, no user-generated content and no external links inside the game.
Your rights
Data protection law, including the GDPR, gives you rights to access, correct and delete personal data held about you. Since we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to disclose or erase. You can delete everything the app has stored at any time by deleting the app from your device.
Changes
If a future version of the app ever collects data, this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the change will be described here.
